It doesn't matter whether you're a new stoner or an Old Hippie stoner, at some point in your life you're just not going to get as high as you used to. When this happens you may find yourself trying to figure out how to get the most out of your weed. Luckily for you, stoners have pondered these questions and searched for the solutions to them for a long time.
To Hold or Not To Hold Your Hits
Obviously you need to inhale to get high, One of the first things you'll hear when you become part of a cannabis lifestyle is to hold your hits. You'll watch some people take hits and hold them until veins in their head are bulging, and their eyes start popping out from their skull.
They exhale losing the bright red color to regain a normal complexion but only after a few moments of violent coughing. Now, does this get you higher? Those who smoke like this swear that it does. Science, however, begs to differ. Science says what these individuals are experiencing is actually oxygen deprivation, which can be dangerous.
The cannabinoids you need to get stoned like THC, CBN, CBG, CBD, and others are absorbed within milliseconds by the body, So take a big hit, Inhale and exhale.
Try Switching Your Methods of Getting High
You may wish to change up your method of using Marijuana. For example, if you're smoking bowls maybe switch it up and try smoking joints or vice versa.
Vaping cannabis cartridges are becoming popular. THC cartridges are available in all kinds of flavors and strain varieties. It's also a great way to compliment the beginning or end of a smoking a joint, bowl or bong
Edibles are another way to enlighten your high. Eating an edible takes longer to feel the effects from than smoking. Give edibles between 45 minutes and two hours to kick in. Some people will eat Edibles throughout the day to increase their High.
Try smoking a salad bowl to improve the entourage effect. Find your favorite indicas, hybrids, or sativas and mix them together in one bowl, joint or bong load.
GG4, sour diesel and sugar black rose mixed is a nice end of day smoke.
If you have large lungs and can tolerate huge hits you could try a gravity bong. These can easily be constructed with a 2L bottle plus a sink or bucket.
Rolling a joint properly is an issue that newcomers to smoking pot can often face. If you don't roll the joint right, it won't burn right or be so tightly packed you just dont get high. Any and all stems along with seeds must be removed. Weed needs to be broken up correctly to burn right
in a joint.
A lot of stoners preparing to roll a joint use a grinder for their weed. Not only will it give you a pile of pot to work with you also end up with a collection of kief (trichomes) over time. You can add that kief to all kinds of things BUT...You should cut a small amount of weed up with scissors to add to the ground weed or only grind it for a short time so you still have some larger strands of weed, this will keep the fine ground stuff from packing so tight inside the paper.
Find High THC Strains LINK TO STRAIN GUIDE
If you're not getting high on the weed you're smoking it might not be you or your method of smoking it could be the weed. Try finding something different to smoke. Look for high THC strains when possible.
Today there are so many Indica, sativa, and hybrid cannabis strains that are all extremely potent. Look for strains that have 18% or higher THC. Also try to find strains that test for a full cannabinoid profile of other cannabinoids such as CBN, CBG, CBD, and others to get the entourage effect. The entourage effect is achieved through a broad spectrum of different cannabinoids working together and produces a more intense and a longer buzz.
Gorilla Glue #4, Girl Scout Cookies, Grand Daddy Purp, Moonshine Haze, Afghani, Hindu Kush, and Durban Poison, when flowered to perfection, are sure to get you lit.
Try Using Kief, Hash, and Dabs
If you've never used cannabis concentrates before and your not getting as high as you used to, then you are going to love this. Don't be intimidated by the blowtorch and glass pipe. There are electronic devices that you can use if you're not comfortable with a torch.
Try dabbing first. If you've never taken a dab, get ready to love weed in a whole different way. Start small because cannabis concentrates/dabs are extremely strong. Don't hit it like a bong or you'll definitely choke. Just hit it slow and smooth. If you're not quite ready for dabbing you can always add it to a joint or Bowl.
A lot of people like to roll a thin rope of shatter and wrap it around a joint. This is called twaxing. Personally, I like to keep that dab rope straight and put it inside my joint, so dabs don't drip all over the place while I'm smoking. It doesn't look as pretty, but it's much more effective to me.
You can also use the kief you've collected in your grinder and add that to your joints or top of bowls to intensify your Buzz. You can also Vape your hash or kief. If your a cigarette smoker you can add hash or kief to a hand roll cigg.
Foods That Get You Higher
Terpene interaction helps to influence your high. When you increase terpenes, your body's endocannabinoid system (ECS) either absorbs more or fewer cannabinoids. The ECS has many different cannabinoid receptors. Two of them that science is becoming familiar with is called CB1 and CB2 receptors. When they interact with terpenes found in certain foods we get increased or decreased benefits.
Mangoes, like cannabis, contain terpenes. One particular terpene called myrcene is thought to speed up the on-set and extend the duration of a high by helping cannabinoids through the Blood Brain Barrier more quickly and efficiently. When mangoes are consumed an hour before a smoke session, myrcene enters into the bloodstream where it binds with various Cannabinoid receptors.
Marijuana edibles can take a while to set in, but the process can be sped up by consuming nuts along with them. That’s because nuts contain high levels of Omega-3 fatty acids which bind to cannabinoids and help them through the Blood Brain Barrier. The high concentration of “healthy fats” in nuts can also protect the heart which is especially beneficial for those suffering from cardiovascular problems.
Herbs and spices
Some herbs (such as thyme, sage and bay) contain the terpene, pinene, a natural bronchodilator that opens up passages in the lungs thus increasing surface level and cannabinoid absorption. In doing so, cannabinoids can pass between the blood and the brain more quickly thus speeding the onset and increasing the duration of a marijuana high. Other herbs (specifically, those containing the terpene limonene) can counter negative side effects of cannabis consumption by decreasing anxiety, depression and stress. Herbs that contain limonene, including Lemon Thyme, Lemon Basil or Lemongrass, can easily be grown in a sunny windowsill for quick anxiety relief. Black pepper can also help decrease mental stress.
Broccoli contains high levels of the terpene, Beta–caryophyllene, which binds to CB2 receptors in the body much like other cannabinoids. It can work in a synergistic way with cannabinoids by helping to reduce pain, inflammation and depression. Though consuming broccoli alone won’t make you feel high, eating a little right before a mellow indica evening could help get you into the comfortable high you desire.
Sweet potatoes contain carbohydrates and B vitamins, both of which have been shown to increase serotonin production in the brain. And because they are low-fat and relatively low in protein, the mood-boosting serotonin can work relatively quick. Sweet potatoes (like pumpkin) also contain high levels of Vitamin E. Because diets that are low in Vitamin E tend to cause feelings of depression, an extra boost of this vital vitamin can help bust the blues and allow you to enjoy your high much more thoroughly.
Black and green teas contain catechin, an antioxidant that can bind with CB1 receptors in the brain to cause feelings of peace and relaxation. When consumed in conjunction with cannabis, tea can improve mood, decrease stress and increase feelings of euphoria.
Pounding a couple beers while smoking is a powerful combination, indeed. Commonly referred to as getting “twisted” or “crossfaded”, consuming marijuana in conjunction with beer can significantly increase a person’s level of impairment.
A recent study published in the Journal of Clinical Chemistry found that those who consumed cannabis in conjunction with alcohol had “significantly higher blood THC” than those who only consumed cannabis. This explains why the “spins” are so commonly reported after a bud/booze combo and further supports the need for extreme moderation when consuming the two together.
Change Your Scenery
Perhaps it's time for a change of placement?
Try getting out and smoking somewhere else, Changing your environment will often help produce a more intense high.
Try a Tolerance Break
This is not recommended if you're a medical patient, Tolerance breaks can cause relapses in conditions that can be extremely dangerous.
Last but not least if everything else is failing then there's only one thing left to do. It's time to try a tolerance break. This doesn't mean smoke a little here and there. This means You act like you were just arrested and put on probation awaiting weekly drug test!
Don't consume any kind of weed for at least 2 weeks.
A tolerance break on average is 2 weeks but can be shorter or longer depending on the individual. You know your body better than anyone else, give yourself at least 48 hours or longer without weed if you're going to try a tolerance break. Be strong and resist the urge to smoke for as long as you can.

- Smoke a bowl right when you wake up. A wake-n-bake is a great way to get extremely stoned. Add a cup of coffee to that wake and bake. It's not going to counteract your weed, Coffee and cannabis go hand-in-hand thanks to the Bliss molecule AKA anandamide.
